International Women's Day at Gebroeders Geens
Celebrate International Women's Day with Gebroeders Geens: Meet our female toppers!
The first interview is with Jana, who works in the Research & Development department.
Can you tell me something about yourself? How long have you been working at Gebroeders Geens? What are your activities?
Yes, I first did a six-month internship here at Gebroeders Geens to successfully complete my studies in electromechanics. After my studies, I became a permanent employee of the company. I am currently working on the development of a new electric Knikmops. I am also working on force calculations.
What is something you learned while working at Gebroeders Geens? What strikes me most during the work I do is that there is a lot involved. It's not just about coming up with something, you also have to think carefully about whether it is practically feasible.
What is your favourite Knikmops?
The second version of the Knikmops KM100 E series. This was my internship project, which always makes it special for me. In addition, the drive of this electric machine is different from that of its predecessors, Knikmops KM140E and the KM180E. I, as a researcher, find it very interesting to see how we can meet these challenges and improve the product.
Which attachment should every woman try?
I would personally choose the sweeping brush. This is because I also have these at home. It is a pleasant attachment and I prefer to use it over the hand brush.
The next interview is with Nadia, who is responsible for the administration within our company.
Can you tell me something about yourself? How long have you been working at Gebroeders Geens? What are your activities?
Yes, my name is Nadia and I have been working in the administrative department at Gebroeders Geens for 8 years in September. My daily activities are handling incoming phone calls, handling emails and viewing and handling sales invoices.
What is something you learned while working at Gebroeders Geens?
Before I ended up here, I worked as an administrative assistant at a school. I was therefore aware of what I could expect in terms of tasks. What I can say is that I have of course gained more knowledge about the products themselves. Another important aspect is cooperation. If I don't know a machine, I request information from the person who does. In this way, we learn from each other in the company.
What is your favourite Knikmops?
My favorite Knikmops is the KM140 model. My son and boyfriend both have one, and I hear very positive stories about it.
Which attachment should every woman try?
Then I would choose the bucket (shovel bucket on website). This is because it is very easy to use and my son and boyfriend love it.
Now arrived at Nicole's office, she takes care of the accounting and financial overview of our company together with Fran.
Can you tell me something about yourself? How long have you been working at Gebroeders Geens? What are your activities?
Yes, I'm Nicole. I am the daughter of Marcel Geens and I started working at Gebroeders Geens last year. I currently work two days a week at Gebroeders Geens and help Fran with the tasks in accounting. I do this with a lot of passion and learn new things every day.
What is something you learned while working at Gebroeders Geens?
What I have learned most while working here is the 'Big Picture'. I came here as a small child at the company, but at the time I didn't know what processes were hidden to keep such a company running. So during my work here, I really learned accounting in practice. I now know better how the procurement processes work and what needs to be done.
What is your favourite Knikmops?
Well in terms of power I would go for the Knikmops KM250. The Knikmops KM250 is truly a power machine. But the KM250 is very big. That's why, when I drive myself, I like the Knikmops KM95. It is a nice compact model.
Which attachment should every woman try?
Then I would choose the pallet fork. Yes, this one I used the most during the times I had to move something, so that one is my preference.
The last interview is with Linda, who is responsible for human resources and the preparatory work for accounting
Can you tell me something about yourself? How long have you been working at Gebroeders Geens? What are your activities?
I have been working for Gebroeders Geens for 17 years now. My tasks consist of the preparatory work for the book parents (Fran & Nicole) and human resources.
What is something you learned while working at Gebroeders Geens?
What I have learned during my 17-year career here at Gebroeders Geens is that communication is very important. We are dealing with different types of people here, and everyone has his or her own way of making something clear. I always try to be clear and positive, so that everyone understands what I mean and walks around here with a positive feeling.
What is your favourite Knikmops?
My favorite Knikmops is the KM130 model. This model, during the time that I have been working here, has been a good selling model. One of my children recently rented the model and was very fond of it.
Which attachment should every woman try?
Then I would choose the tree clamp. Yes, that's such a handy thing! We recently had to remove a few trees from our garden. I was amazed at how many angles the clamp can maneuver into.
