About us

Belgian quality

Gebroeders Geens, the family business behind the versatile Rollmops and the multifunctional Knikmops, has been designing, developing and manufacturing machines and attachments for over 30 years now. Rollmops and Knikmops are made as light, powerful and sturdy machines that can lighten the work load in a large variety of sectors.

Rollmops has been well-known among road workers from Belgium to Poland for over 30 years. This small, versatile transport machine can carry supplies right next to the spot where they are needed. Whether driving on unstable terrain or on newly laid paving stones, its lightness combined with its power ensure that this will never be a problem for the sharp Rollmops. This machine is also in high demand in stables. It is ideal for cleaning the grids or supplying feed.

Knikmops is a multifunctional articulated loader that is suitable for nearly every market. Apparently simple in design but with high breaking power and lifting capacity compared to its own weight, this machine is suitable for many applications. The Knikmops is light and compact so it can be taken along like a Swiss army knife and used for a variety of tasks.

The machines made by Gebroeders Geens are produced to make heavy work profitable. At Rollmops and Knikmops, user-friendliness is paramount. The machines must be high-quality and robust but also light and versatile. Product development for these brands takes place in Hoogstraten in close proximity to production.

This enables Gebroeders Geens to offer the best to farmers, road workers, landscapers, construction firms, tree specialists, municipal workers and many others. The multifunctional, compact power of the Belgian Knikmops and Rollmops relieves you of a great deal of manual labour in difficult spots and challenging situations.

How it all started

In 1987, the first Rollmops left the ‘factory’. Frans and Marcel Geens were looking for a machine that could move clinkers fast and efficiently. Their first machine was developed with parts from a motorised wheelbarrow.

In 1989, the first brand-new Rollmops (that was renamed to Knikmops 50 in 2015) was produced by Gebroeders Geens n.v. The first Rollmops was still green and was assembled in the shed of the parents of Frans and Marcel. This space very soon became too small and they moved to the current location at Hinnenboomstraat 5. Fairly soon the request came from the Netherlands for a machine that could drive more easily through sand. The Rollmops with the 4x4 option (renamed to Knikmops 70 in 2015) was developed based on this request.

The journey to find larger and stronger machines had begun.

In 1997, the first Knikmops 90 rolled out of the gates. This agile machine would become a standard item during street work just as its predecessor. In 2002, this Knikmops was joined by a larger and stronger model: the Knikmops 130. They were the only options on the market for a long time.

At the request of the public, a larger and even heavier model was designed, the Knikmops 250, in 2008. Two years later, the Knikmops family was expanded more than ever before: new models at the request of the horticulture sector, the Knikmops 80. This model is sufficiently narrow to manoeuvre over garden paths. In a higher class, models were also added: the Knikmops 100. This was an evolution of our fixed asset, the Knikmops 90. To fill in the gap between the Knikmops 130 and 250, the Knikmops 180 model was elaborated.

In 2013, the telescopic arm was updated and therefore this option also became a success.

In the years that followed, all our models were given a more modern and practical look. We have fully committed to alternative energy sources during the last few years.  The models are currently being developed and we hope they will soon come to strengthen our range.

Gebroeders Geens is committed to a more sustainable working climate

From 2016, much work is being done on alternative drives for the Knikmops machines. Developments in electricity are continuing at a fast pace. There is a strong focus on developing an alternative drive which is more energy-efficient, affordable and emission-free for Knikmops users. But still based on the fundamental values of compactness, durability and multifunctionality.

In 2019 Gebroeders Geens celebrated their 30th anniversary with a festive open day and a new logo.

2020 turned out to be a pivotal year for Gebroeders Geens. All Knikmops machines above 19 kWh and 25 hp were given a particulate filter to reduce the emissions from their diesel engines. Half the product range was thus given an entirely new engine (Stage V) and a display. All these machines are designed for the particulate filter regeneration (or cleaning) to take place during the work. The Knikmops operator therefore only needs to be informed of any irregularities. To achieve this, Gebroeders Geens installed a digital dashboard which is easy to use. The Knikmops with a Stage V engine is therefore still as simple and quick to use as before.

The year 2021 started with a new addition to the family: the Knikmops 140 was born. The smallest Knikmops with a particulate filter in the Gebroeders Geens product range. An articulated loader developed to have huge lifting force but still with a low unladen weight.

Developments continue apace at Gebroeders Geens, Belgian machine producer.
