Pleasant! My name is Mirthe Stoffelen and I am currently an intern at Gebroeders Geens. I study Marketing and Communication Support at the AP Hogeschool in Antwerp. My internship runs for 11 weeks, and I am present every Thursday and Friday. With a strong interest in the construction industry, I see Gebroeders Geens as the ideal first step to further develop my career.
35 Years of Gebroeders Geens: Through the eyes of Mirthe
Who am I?
Open day
As an intern at Gebroeders Geens, I had the opportunity to celebrate their 35th anniversary during the open day, an event I was looking forward to with great enthusiasm. The atmosphere within this family business is unique; You really feel the connection and the positive energy of the team. From the moment you step inside, you notice how well everyone is attuned to each other.
Production process
During the open day, the production process of the Knikmops and Rollmops was clearly explained. Before I started here, I didn't know that Gebroeders Geens produces everything in-house. The production process starts with the delivery of steel plates and ends with the delivery of a fully finished Knikmops or Rollmops according to the customer's wishes.
New attachment
During my internship at Gebroeders Geens, I had already made some preparations for the big five-yearly open day. On my second day of internship I took photos and videos of the sifting drum and placed this new attachment on the website. Various attachments were shown in action on the demo site during the open day. Demo riders, both women and men, drove around with the Knikmops and Rollmops. The new attachments, such as the sifting drum, were shown to the visitors.
Knikmops 100E
The biggest breakthrough of the open day, however, was the announcement of the Knikmops 100 electric. This machine excels in the three basic values of Knikmops: compact, multifunctional and durable. With the Knikmops KM 100 E, we can further serve a new market segment. Pavers and construction companies in particular are interested in our smaller machines.
Conclusion
The open day was an educational and inspiring experience for me. It gave me an insight into the impressive capabilities of the machines and showed me what it's like to be part of a close-knit team. My interest in the construction industry has only grown as a result. I am very much looking forward to further developing my knowledge and skills at Gebroeders Geens in the coming weeks.
